Ryan Swindell, O.D.
Residency Trained Optometrist
A Certified Ocular Disease Trained Optometrist currently practicing at EyeCare Associates of South Tulsa. Dr. Swindell specializes in ocular disease and refractive surgery. He is certified in and routinely performs anterior segment laser procedures, YAG laser procedures, photo refractive keratectomy (PRK), glaucoma-related laser treatments, and minor in-office surgical procedures. In addition to his daily practice Dr. Swindell is a member of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians and is active in the American Optometric Association
Dr. Swindell has advocated on behalf of optometrists and patients nationwide at the legislative level to expand scope of practice and access to care, including published research displaying optometrists adequacy when performing minor surgical procedures. Dr. Swindell was also asked to present research that he completed while attending NSU College of Optometry at the 5-State Symposium annual meeting in Tahlequah, OK. Dr. Swindell completed the Leadership Optometry program on behalf of the Oklahoma Association of Optometric Physicians in which participants are selected on ability, interest in their community or profession, and insight for effective leadership.
Originally from Oologah, Oklahoma, Dr. Swindell obtained his Bachelor of Science in business management and marketing from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK in 2014. Dr. Swindell received his Doctorate of Optometry from Northeastern State University Oklahoma College of Optometry in Tahlequah, OK in 2020, and completed a residency in ocular disease through NSU at EyeCare Associates of South Tulsa in 2020-2021.
Dr. Swindell is passionate about training existing and upcoming optometrists in the most cutting edge technology and procedures available to best serve patients. He plans to continue this passion through education and training across various states throughout the country. Eyecare Associates currently provides a residency program through NSU in which Dr. Swindell works directly with training the resident physician throughout their program.
